Meet Our Students
One Family Honduras, Inc. currently supports Karla, Sergio, Ada, Estefany and Kenneth.
Karla began studying at a local bilingual school in January 2012, Ada began in August 2012, Sergio in January 2013 and Estephany in August 2013. It is our hope to see each child of our family attend and graduate from high school someday, not only receiving a high-quality, bilingual education, but also growing into mature, critical thinking and compassionate individuals. |

Karla
When we first met Karla in 2011, she had just finished the last year of school that required by the Honduran government. She spent many evenings working in the family business selling food from a cart. Karla is now 18 and working toward a degree in Health Promotion. Karla aspires to studying nursing after she finishes her health promotion degree.
Natasha, a former OFH staffer writes that in Karla's 7th grade year, "she received the award for ‘Most Inspirational’ from the Girl Scouts... She made the highest sales during the bake sale, and she opened up tremendously at the group sleepover. Her English teacher told me how polite she has become and how she was the best public speaker in her class. Pretty impressive for a girl who spoke little English when I first met her two years ago!"

Ada
In August 2012, we were thrilled to welcome Karla’s younger sister, Ada! Ada’s kindergarten teacher, Ms. Sara Dolinger, spoke to Ada’s creativity and confidence in the classroom; “She does not care about coloring in the lines, and if she is not watched will color every square inch of paper. But that doesn't matter, as she is one of the most creative students in that she incorporates colors, shapes, and repetition in her doodles.”
Although she can be quiet in class, outside of class Ada has a spunky and rambunctious personality. She is energetic and fearless, and can often be found running barefoot outside and playing with neighborhood children and animals. Ada is described as one of the brightest students in her class and can be found teaching the other students the lesson.

Estefany
Estefany is energetic and chatty. She always has a smile on her face, and she finds her older siblings endlessly entertaining. Estefany began at the bilingual school in August 2013 and soon mastered numbers and colors in English. She's learning to share things with other students and her mentor-tutors have described her as loving and very playful.
